Despite installing cable broadband to the pack house building, Virgin Media are not intending at present to connect the houses on Cow Lane. This is really disappointing news. ADSL (over the old phone lines), as we currently have, is very poor in the modern world. It doesn’t matter if you swap between providers; it is the same hardware in the Cottenham exchange that they all use. So for us to get better internet on Cow Lane we either need the Cottenham exchange updated and / or the quality of phone lines from there to all the houses in Cow Lane updated. Better still get cable. We need to persuade Virgin Media to complete the cable install for Rampton and not forget about Cow Lane. If you live on Cow Lane, please email Virgin Media at firstname.lastname@example.org giving your name and full address, along with a brief argument as to why you need better internet. The more people that pester Virgin Media the better. They are basing their decision on old data (they think there are only 24 houses on Cow Lane!) and need reminding of the critical need for faster internet, especially in a more rural area such as Rampton (and on a street that has had it installed for a business!) Even if you do not feel too badly affected by the slow internet, I ask that you please email Virgin Media to help out those residents on Cow Lane that are struggling to carry out their personal or professional tasks.
