Annual Parish Meeting – Tea Club Report 2016

The tea club is now in its eighth year and continues to attract between fifteen and eighteen people on alternate Tuesday afternoons. We charge £1 to cover the cost of refreshments and to pay for the hire of the hall. We were grateful for a £50 grant from the village charities and we raised about £100 on a coffee morning allowing us to have money for occasional speakers. The £1 entry charge has remained the same since we began in 2008.

During this year Muriel Neal has arranged three trips out. Our group enjoyed visits to the Norfolk Broads which included a river cruise, the Black Country Museum and the spring bulb fields around Spalding.

We enjoyed a visit from Luanne Hill, style and colour consultant. We have had a talk from Joanne Bishop on her visit to Kenya and her two weeks voluntary work with the charity ‘Open Arms’. Alison Wedgbury talked to us about the local food bank and recently we have had a talk from Louise Adams about her night time sponsored climb of Snowden and her planned sponsored climb of three peaks later this year. She talked about her involvement with Alzheimer’s and the money she is raising for Alzheimer’s research.

We had a Christmas lunch in the Back Horse during December and a tea party on our last meeting before Christmas where we were entertained by Audrey and Peter Clarke’s granddaughter playing Christmas carols.
