The next walk will be on Saturday 20th April and will be led by Rob Taylor.

The walk will take place in Monks Wood, near Abbots Ripton. Rampton residents will leave the green at 9.00am. We will all meet in the car park of The Abbots Elm pub, Abbots Ripton PE28 2PD at 9.45 and then drive in convoy to the parking space near the wood. Monks Wood is a 157 hectare National Nature Reserve and at this time of year the bluebells should be out.

We will return to the Abbots Elm for lunch and non walkers are welcome to join us there.

The walk will start from The Six Bells, Fulbourn and passes through Wilbraham Common and Fulbourn Fen, there will be short and longer options.We will return to The Six Bells for lunch and non walkers are welcome to join us there.

Rampton residents will leave the green at 9.00am, The walk will begin at 10.00am, the pub will be open for us to order lunch and use the toilets before the walk starts. Lunch is booked for 1.00pm.

Haddenham Walk

The next walk will be on Saturday 16th February and will be led by Jane McCartney.

The walk will start from The Three Kings at Haddenham and is approximately 5miles with a a shorter option available. The walk takes in Haddenham pastures and Wilburton, we will return to the pub for lunch and non walkers are welcome to join us there. Walkers can make their menu choice before the walk when the pub will be open for us. Non walkers will need to arrive by 12.30, lunch is booked for 1.00pm.

Madingley Walk

Saturday 15th December)
The December walk will start from the Madingley Road Park & Ride free Car Park at 9.30 (park at the back of the car park). The route will pass through Eddington (the new University development between Madingley Road and Huntingdon Road), skirt round Girton College, and then head to the American Cemetery at Madingley.  The route returns to the starting point via Coton.  It is a circular walk of about 5.5 miles. If anyone feels this is too much for them, there are buses that run from the American Cemetary back to the Park & Ride site, or if you let us know, you can loiter in the American Cemetery visitor centre or chapel and we can collect you and return you to the P&R site after the walk.

As it’s the December walk, no pub arranged, but the end point provides access into Cambridge.

Leave Rampton Green at 9 as usual.

Newmarket Walk

The next walk will be on Saturday 27th October (note 4th Saturday of month instead of 3rd Saturday). It will be led by Val and Colin Humphries.

The walk begins from The Marquis of Grantham pub, Stetchworth CB8 9TJ near Newmarket. A14 to Quy roundabout then old Newmarket road to next roundabout and look for sign to Stetchworth, it is a 19 mile drive.

Rampton residents will leave the green at 9.00am and the walk will begin at 10.00, the walk takes 2.5 hours, there is an option of a shorter walk. Lunch is booked for 1.00pm. We do not need to pre order.

Oakington Walk

The next walk is on Saturday 12th May and will be led by Sylvia Beaumont. The walk will start from the car park of The White Horse, Oakington.

We will meet at the green at 9.00 and begin the walk from Oakington at 9.30.

The circular walk is about 5 – 6 Miles. We will return to The White Horse for lunch and non walkers are welcome to join us there.

Walking Group

12th May (second Saturday to avoid royal wedding), 16th June, 21st July,  18th August,

Littleport walk

The next walk is on Saturday the 18th November and will be led by Rob Taylor. It is 4 ½ miles and begins in the car park of ‘The Swan on the River’ at  Littleport.

Rampton residents leave the Green at 9.00am. the walk begins at 9.45 from Littleport. We return to the pub for lunch where non walkers are welcome to join us.

Wimpole Walk

The next walk will be on Saturday 21st October and will be led by Jill and Norman Gulliver, the walk will be around Wimpole Hall and Home Farm.

We will meet at Rampton green as usual and then drive to Wimpole, would anybody who has a NT membership card please bring it as one per car is now required for free parking. The walk is five and a half miles but there is a slightly shorter option if preferred. Following the walk we will drive to the ‘Pergola Restaurant’ at the Wheatsheaf pub on the Cambridge road, Harlton for 1pm lunch, non walkers are welcome to join us there. Lunch menu not available at present but  will be circulated nearer the time.

Swavesy Walk

The next walk is on Saturday 20th May and will be led by Val and Colin Humphries. It is a circular walk starting at the RSPB car park at Swavesey / Fen Drayton Lakes of 4 5 miles. It is a different walk from our other recent walk there.

We will be walking around Elney and Holywell Lakes, there will be opportunities for pausing to view wildlife. Following the walk we will drive to The White Horse at Swavesey where non walkers are welcome to join us. The table is booked for 1pm, they do require us to pre order, non walkers will need to let Val and Colin know their menu choice.

Upware Walk

The next walk is on Saturday 18th March and will be led by Graham White. It is a circular 5 mile walk beginning from the pub car park,

‘The Five Miles from Anywhere’, Upware.

We will leave Rampton green at 9.00am and begin our walk from Upware at 9.45 promptly. We will return to the pub and non walkers are welcome to join us there. They do not require us to pre order.

Aldreth Walk

Saturday 18th February 2017

A circular walk beginning at Aldreth, it is 4.5 miles with a possibility for extending the length if you began and ended at the The Three Kings in Haddenham where we will be returning for lunch. Non walkers are welcome to join us there.

We will leave Rampton green at 9.00 and leave Aldreth at about 9.30.
