Dear Residents of Rampton,
I am sure we all agree that All Saints’ Church is a much-valued part of village life. With the formation of the new parish of Cottenham with Rampton in June last year, it became a Chapel-of-Ease, often called a Festival Church. This means it continues as a place of worship for all Anglican religious services, but is no longer a Parish Church, obliged to hold regular Communion services. That role is filled by All Saints’ Cottenham, which is now the Parish Church for both villages.
As an historic building, All Saints’ Church Rampton needs lots of TLC to keep it in good repair. To oversee that, the Parochial Church Council (PCC) of Cottenham with Rampton set up ‘Rampton Action Group (RAG)’, the members of which are Rev. Lynda Davies (ex officio Chair), Alison Dickens (Vice-Chair), Michael Hastings (Correspondence Secretary and Treasurer), Judi Middleton (Meeting Secretary), Gavin Cameron, Colin Humphryes and Alison Wedgbury.
RAG is here to ensure that the church building receives its day-to-day care. We shall also oversee, on behalf of the PCC, future large-scale repairs and refurbishment by applying for grants, working with architects, local councils, contractors and residents. We shall make sure the building stays in good condition for future generations, and is available for the spiritual and secular life of Rampton.
To do so requires some modest funding. We need £2,400 annually to cover insurance, heating, miscellaneous building maintenance etc. To cover these essential costs, we would love to recruit 20 regular supporters prepared to donate £10 per month. Would you be prepared to support All Saints’ in this way: keeping it clean, flowered, open for all, dry, warm(ish) and available for concerts, events and services? If so, a simple standing order payable to All Saints’ Rampton, Lloyds Bank, Sort Code: 30-91-56, Account Number 03875538 would do the job! If you are willing to Gift Aid your donation, it would be boosted further by 25%. Mike Hastings (25 Cow Lane, 07739518070) can provide further details. We’d love to have you on board!
