We hope to have cakes, pies, buns, cupcakes, etc. on sale at the Horse Show from about 11am until they’re gone. If you are able to bake something luscious to help us raise money for the church path, please bring along from 10am on Saturday (12th). Alternatively, you can leave with Sylvia (2 High Street) on Friday (11th) between 4pm and 6pm, or before 10am on Saturday (12th) or contact Gail Bull on 251057 to have your goodies collected.
I have received some kind requests for another calendar for next year. You may be aware that they are compiled as a record of local Rampton scenes, history and life for friends of the village. They are full colour, measure approx. 13″ by 10″ and are produced at an “at cost” basis, expected to be about £17 each. If I am able to order over 20 copies, there is likely to be a printing discount. If you are interested in reserving one – they should be ready for collection in November, please phone Rosemary on 252996. Thank you. Trevor.

Pounds for the Path will be holding Coffee Mornings in different homes on the third Wednesday of the month running up to Christmas. The September Coffee Morning is at 22 Cow Lane from 10 until 12 on Wednesday 16 September. There will be a bowl for donations. Why not come along for a chat and some coffee and help us raise funds at the same time?
In 2013 the Friends (and friends) staged a Christmas Tableau outside the church. We are hoping to do this again on 18th and 19th December. If you would like to participate, please contact Gail Bull or Jacquie Bland. We will need some shepherds, kings, Marys and Josephs!

It was widely known that this show was the 10th anniversary. So would it be tempted to be a retrospective? Not at all – and rightly so! Apart from a small section, it concentrated on the current year thoughts and works of its group of artists.
A surprising feature of these exhibitions has been that each has produced a new outstanding theme: this year it was COLOUR! Of course, all pictures are coloured, but never have so many been so powerfully rich and so daring. It has to represent the growing confidence within the group.
Pleasingly (as often in the past), amongst this array of generally agreeable pictures were one or two that would not look out of place in any gallery anywhere.
Their use of colour gave power to otherwise simple scenes, reminiscent of the final frames from James Cameron’s film ‘The Terminator’, where his wild landscape colours previewed dramatic events that were about to occur.

The Rampton Summer Fayre will take place on 4th July starting at 2pm. We will be collecting bric- a-brac, donations for the tombola, cakes for the cake stall, etc on the evening of 3rd July. We are always glad of help setting up (from 8:30am on The Green on the day), running stalls and clearing up. If you would like to volunteer please contact Judy Garstang, Tel: 01954 250960.
The weather perked up for the afternoon and we had one of the best turnouts ever. A really pleasant couple of hours catching up on the village news and drinking tea. We did run a quiz, although not many people took it too seriously, the winners (after a TIE BREAK!) were Simon and Chrissie with Pat and Dave coming in second. The children’s quiz, however, was taken very seriously indeed because everyone who entered got every answer right!

The Pounds for the Path group will be running a Cake Stall at the Horse Show on Saturday 12 September. This is a great opportunity for us to raise money for the church path from people outside the village. The horse show is a popular event and well-attended. We will need LOTS of cakes, pies, buns, cupcakes, etc. to sell though, and hope that you will be able to help us out. Please contact Sylvia Beaumont (T. 252043, sylviaj.beaumont@nullvirginmedia.com) or Gail Bull

The next walk is Saturday 18th July and will be led by Gill and Norman Gulliver.
By popular demand we return to Paxton Pits (in summer this time). There will be a variety of walks
available, a longer circular walk (approx. 6 miles) along The Great Ouse to Offord D’arcy and back to Paxton. People who are not driving wishing to have a shorter walk could stop at Offord D’arcy where we are all having lunch (approx. 3 miles).
There is also the option of a short walk within the nature reserve taking in the flora and fauna and spending time in bird hides, this walk would be as long or short as you want to make it and would be suitable for revellers.
We will be leaving Rampton at 9.15, meeting up at Paxton Pits at 10.00. We will later make our way to Offard D’arcy to the Horseshoe Inn for 1.00 lunch. Menus can be found on www.theoffordshoe.co.uk
Please let Gill 01954 201859 or Sylvia 01954 252043 know if you are coming and your choice of menu.
The Village Hall Management Committee
would like to thank everyone who supported and made cakes for the coffee morning on 20th June.
A total of £48.35 was raised.
