Free Thermal Survey

Thermal imaging surveys can show where heat is being lost from your home and where draught-proofing and insulation could be beneficial.  Through the Sustainable Parish Energy Project (SPEP), surveys are undertaken by volunteers who have undertaken training to use South Cambridgeshire District Council’s thermal imaging camera. The camera is booked for Rampton from 5-12 March.  Surveys generally take between 1-2 hours and I will fit in as many surveys as I can during the time we have the camera. Please contact Jane Perks (jane.perks@nulldow.cam.ac.uk, 01954 204237)  for more info or to request a survey.

SPEP – Energy Savings Grants

More government money is available for energy saving home improvements from this Wednesday.  It’s expected to go quickly!

In Cambridgeshire, this is of interest to owner-occupiers interested in measures other than solid wall insulation.  Better deals are available (and are unaffected by this announcement), through council scheme Action on Energy for solid wall insulation (up to £6, 000), and for energy saving measures generally in the private rented sector.

To find out more, go to gov.uk/greendeal, or call the council led scheme, Action on Energy on 0800 093 33 03
