Rampton Relay 2011

The annual race took place on Sunday, 8th May with permission to use the Parkland from County Farms and Mr Glen Horner. Conditions underfoot were good and a light wind cooled the athletes as they competed over a course of exactly one Rampton mile. The race is run either by relay teams of four (each member completing one lap) or by single runners who complete one lap.

Gavin Cameron recorded the fastest man’s lap (6min 26sec) and the fastest woman’s lap was 7:52 run by Ali Leonard. Our fastest individual runner was James Redman (6:43), the fastest family were the Chaplins (average time; 10:52). Rory Dixon was our fastest child runner at 7:34.

The fastest relay teams were: men – John Bateson, Sam Allen and Mark Wickham (ran laps 3 and 4) 29:57; women – Ali Leonard, Helen Boysen, Emily Jones and Alison Bateson (35:04); and mixed team – James Redman (running two laps) Sarah Cameron and Gavin Cameron (28:48).

Regrettably, the Rampton Educational Foundation Shield could not be awarded this year because there were insufficient young runners to form a relay team.

The event raised £53.00 which will be donated to MAGPAS.
