The FRIENDS of All Saints’ Church, Rampton
We would like to introduce you to an organisation formed in Rampton in August 1997. The aim of the FRIENDS is to raise funds for the repair and upkeep of the Church building. The group consists of non-church members as well as church members, all of whom have a real interest in this wonderful old church building. It is the aims of the FRIENDS group too assist the Parochial Church Council of All Saints’ in raising funds for the renovation and repair of the building, or indeed helping in practical ways.
For many hundreds of years, All Saints’ Church has served Rampton as a place of worship for its congregation and as a venue for weddings christenings and funerals of the WHOLE community. Unfortunately the years have taken their toll of the structure of the church building, and despite regular maintenance, each year brings to light the need for more expensive repairs. At this present time there is major work needing to be carried out.
Whilst the congregation continue to raise funds for these repairs, the burden is ever increasing. It is to assist with this work that the FRIENDS were formed. It is important to distinguish between expensive repair costs and the normal day to day running costs of worship and running the Parish. Money raised for the restoration and improvement of the church building by the FRIENDS will only ever be used for that purpose.
Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in maintaining the church building as a village amenity for this and future generations. The FRIENDS also provide a formal link with All Saints’ for those who have left the parish.
For more information, please contact the Chairwoman, Carol Jackson at 14 Church End.
The Friends have produced post-cards of the village: they are available for sale from Carol Jackson, 14 Church End.
